How we work

How we work

UKCEH operates from four sites: Bangor, Edinburgh, Lancaster and our main site at Wallingford.

Our research facilities provide state-of-the-art capacity in integrated terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems science, investigating everything from radiation in freshwater to bacteria in soil.

We organise our research across six Science Areas, and you can find out more about them here.

Underpinning UKCEH's research and innovation are large research infrastructures and our capabilities in monitoring and measuring, experimentation, and data science. Find out more here.

The long-term environmental data hosted by the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) make a difference, informing research, policy-making, commercial innovation and conservation action all around the world. We are committed to making the data we manage available for others to use. Explore here.
